Expansion - With Free Algebra Worksheets - The Answer

Hi folks,

Welcome back. I hope you have done the previous algebra worksheets.

If you have not, click here to get the notes and the questions.

Here are the answers and step-by-step working to the previous algebra worksheets:

Expand the following
1. 3(2+x)

= 3×2 + 3.x

= 6 + 3x

2. 4(p+1)

= 4.p + 4×1

= 4p + 4

3. p(3+x)

= p×3 + p.x

= 3p + px

4. 5(2x+1)

= 5×2x + 5×1

= 10x + 5

5. 2(x+y)

= 2×x + 2×y

= 2x + 2y

6. 8(a+2b)

= 8×a + 8×2b

= 8a + 16b

7. ½(2x+4y)

= ½×2x + ½×4y

= x + 2y

8. 8(7c-5d)

= 8×7c + 8×5d

= 56c + 40d

9. 4(-2f+5d)

= 4(-2f) + 4(5d)

= -8f + 20d

10. 6(-m-3n)

= 6(-m) + 6(-3n)

= -6m -18n

Expansion - With Free Algebra Worksheets

Hi folks,

Welcome back. Sorry that I did not update this blog for a while. I was actually busy with something else.

Today, we'll be learning about expansion pf some algebra equations.

Expansion

General equation
p(q + r) = pq + pr

For example:
2(x + 3)
= 2.x + 2.3 ( the dots represent multiplication )
= 2x + 6

Here's another example:

3x(y+5)
= 3x.y + 3x.5 ( the dots represent multiplication )
= 3xy + 15x

I think this is pretty straight forward for you folks. If you still don't understand, please don't hesitate to post your question or doubt in the comment column.

Here are some free algebra worksheets on expansion for you.

Expand the following
1. 3(2+x)
2. 4(p+1)
3. p(3+x)
4. 5(2x+1)
5. 2(x+y)
6. 8(a+2b)
7. ½(2x+4y)
8. 8(7c-5d)
9. 4(-2f+5d)
10. 6(-m-3n)
